The status of our environment is getting worse and worse!

Don’t you think our environment is in big trouble? Because I do! There is this

huge hole in the ozone layer which has to close again for example. But this only

works if we finally decide to do something for it. Planting trees would be

optimal. But this hole isn’t our only problem. There are many other problems

like the pollution of oceans and seas. Many fishes are dying because of that.

But the list of bad things doesn’t stop here. There are many other disasters we

have to do something about as well.

To fix those things we need every help we can get. So why don’t you or your

school contribute something good for the environment? For example, by going

to demonstrations. Starting an environmental-protection school project would

also be a great idea. There are many other options to do something good for

nature as long as something changes. Even if you only start separating waste.

But to start helping the environment people have to know what they can do

about it. Therefore, it would be great if something like “environmental

education” would become a school subject where young students learn what

they can do about these crises. It would only cost them one or two more hours

of school every week and the environment will get an enormous advantage.

So why don’t you start supporting the nature today? Grab your friends or

parents and you are good to go. If you are already doing good things, comment

them down below! I’m already looking forward to your response!

  1. Hey Nico F.,
I'm really inspired by your blog post!
There is no doubt that we have to do something to save the environment. You wrote that it would be an idea to plant trees, which is totally right at all, but in my opinion it would be more helpful to stop cutting down whole rainforests. Just when this dilemma would come to an end, planting trees would have sense.
I totally agree with you that we should grab our friends and start saving the environment today, and not tomorrow. Therefore, going to demonstrations would be a good idea, to show the government that we are caring about our future.
I find it very important to talk about these topics in public, thank you for that!
    Wish you all the best!

  2. Dear Nico F.,
I want to thank you that you have written and published this text here. I want to congratulate you for this well written text. You mentioned a lot of current issues which are threatening our environment and consequently also our future. I share your opinion that it would be really cool if schools would integrate a new subject like environmental education. Everyone can contribute something in the fight against climate change. So why don't schools and other educational institutions join it. To solve this enormous problme we all have to work together.

Covid – A student’s dream or educational disaster?

As we surely all have understood by now the past year has been drastically different due to the global pandemic, for adults as well as for students. In this blog post I will show you the viewpoint of an affected student from Austria. First of all, schools only partially closed down. For the most time online classes were held, then when things got better the government decided to switch to a system with half of the students physically going to school every other day. Unfortunately, this led to more covid-cases, resulting in a back and forth between online classes and “real” classes. One of the major differences was in the amount of work that we got assigned. Not only were the teachers much more generous with homework but as a student I had a lot more time to manage, and efficiently do, all the tasks. This might seem like a big advantage for everyone, but the actual online meetings were much more stressful than I could’ve ever imagined. Over time, however, things changed. Teachers ...

No education because of Covid19?

The last year was very difficult for many students in Austria. Why? Covid19 didn’t just change the way we shop, but also the way we go to school. In this year, the school system changed significantly. To illustrate this point, distance learning was established and the students only went to school for short periods of time. The whole class was in school for a very short time and from then on, distance learning and shift operation shaped the school year. But this time didn’t cost us a year of education, as many people might claim. Because of these new systems, students have learned many new skills. They worked with computers on a regular basis, organised themselves and even learned new topics on their own. This was a time where students developed a lot of new abilities which they wouldn’t have gained in a normal year. In my opinion, this year didn’t cost us a year of education. In fact, I believe this unique time was a very educational one for the students. For instance, the comput...
